Short, short one this week.

My time is not my own.

I may be deluded into thinking so as I now work from home, socialise from home, make all my food at home. And indeed it has been so delightful to feel like I have more control over how I spend my day and how much time I contribute to various obligations and projects!

Yet I have repeatedly been reminded this week through conversations and through reading the Bible that my time is not my own.

My entire life has been redeemed from the meaningless I once experienced and I now have the incredible ability to live with significant, eternal purpose.

Nothing I've ever done or experienced goes to waste, and this includes MCO days where I struggle to find meaning as the days all roll into one, with no changes afoot and only the same pattern repeated daily.

Jesus' death and resurrection now means that my life won't just end when I die, rather I get to invest in things now that will have eternal significance.

The conversations I have with students, friends, family; all those are opportunities I have to speak life and show Christ.

The time I spend preparing lessons are redeemed by the fact that I am using gifts that God has given me to teach my students about the world he has created. A world that isn't just all science and objectivity but also includes poetry and beauty.

The struggle I face every day as I change into workout clothes and try my hardest to not give up after 10 minutes; this too helps me to understand what it means to endure suffering for an outcome that is not immediately obvious but is deeply good for me.

My time belongs to God. And as I continue to surrender it to him, he helps me see how he is using every last bit of it to make me more like him! So my prayer this week is that my time would not be spent doing every last thing that pleases me and that elevates my comfort and satisfaction. Rather that I would be able to wait on him and ask him each day how he would have me use it.
